Our Beliefs
What We Believe
The following is a brief listing of our doctrine that we follow here at the church. You may view our full confession of faith by visiting the Southern Baptist Convention website. Thank you for taking the time to review what we believe!
The Bible is God’s story and as such is written by men who were inspired by God. God is the author which makes the Bible truth without any mixture of error.
There is only one true and living God. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are all distinct in personal attributes, but there is no division of nature, essence, or being.
Jesus is God's eternal Son. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect and sinless life revealing the will of God in His human nature. He died on the cross for man's sin in our place and rose three days later providing salvation from sin and victory of death mankind. He ascended to heaven and is now seated a t the right hand of God. He is the only way to be reconciled to God. He will return in power and glory to judge and bring to conclusion His divine mission.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God fully diving and equal to the Father and the Son. He inspires, illuminates, and exalts Christ. He convicts mankind of sin, draws mankind to Jesus, and is the one who brings about transformation in the life of a follower of Jesus. He empowers mankind to live the way God designed for us to live according to his word. He gives spiritual gifts to all who follow Jesus so that they may serve God through His church. His presence is mankind's guarantee that he is secure and will receive what God has promised to those who follow Jesus.
Man is the special creation of God who is made in His image. He made mankind male and female as the growing work of creation. God gave man free choice and man chose to sin against God and now sin affects all of mankind. Only the grace of God can bring mankind back into relationship with Him. All of mankind possesses full dignity and should be treated with respect and Christian love.
The Gospel is the good news that all those who freely believe and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior receive eternal redemption which Jesus provided. The results are salvation, transformation, and eternity in Heaven with God. These are gifts from God that no man or woman can earn and only come through Jesus. There is no other way.
The church is the Body of Christ which includes all followers of Jesus through the ages and from every ethnic group. It manifests itself through local independent congregations who come together who seek to worship, grow, and serve Jssus together.
Baptism is the immersion of a follower of Jesus in water in the name of the Triune God. It is an act of obedience that symbolizes the follower's transformation from death to life in Christ. It is a public confession of faith to the world.
The Lord's supper is a symbolic act of obedience by the church that remembers the sacrifice of Jesus and proclaims His resurrection and imminent return.
God, in His own way and in His own time, will complete His redemptive plan. Jesus will come back visibly and personally according to His promise, and He will judge all of mankind.
